De Heus Nutrición Animal strengthens her position on the Spanish animal feed market through the acquisition of Acorex
After entering the Spanish market at the end of 2015, De Heus Nutrición Animal is pleased to announce that on March 13th she has signed the agreement for the acquisition of the compound feed plant of the Agrupación de Cooperativas de Regadío de Extremadura (Acorex). With this step De Heus gives substance to its goal of building a leading position on the Spanish market for animal feeds. With the acquisition of Acorex, De Heus increases its presence in the area of Extremadura.
The Acorex plant has 19 employees and the current production capacity is 11,000 MT per month. The plant was a benchmark in its time in the area thanks to the state-of-the-art technology installed, the highly-qualified workers and its energy efficiency. With the short-term investment planned by De Heus Nutrición Animal the plant will recover its efficiency and modern model in the sector and will reach a production capacity of 180,000 MT per year. Our goal is to integrate the new feed plant in De Heus by the systematic application of the five pillars that define us: quality, performance, independence, ongoing improvement and entrepreneurial spirit.” He continued: “With this acquisition, we are consolidating our commitment to the cattle farming business in an area as important as Extremadura. At the same time, the independent business spirit they have always had will be maintained”. La Garrovilla feed plant is now the eleventh production plant owned by De Heus Nutrición Animal in Spain, in addition to Aranda de Duero (Burgos), Benavente (Zamora), Colloto (Asturias), Porriño (Pontevedra), Llerena (Badajoz), Lugo, San Pedro de Nós (A Coruña), Silla (Valencia), Talavera de la Reina (Toledo) and Ubeda (Jaén).
